Ingredients
- 4 cups (500 g) all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 packet (7 g) active dry yeast
- 1¼ cups (300 ml) warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter

Activate yeast:
Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.

Combine ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and oil.

Knead dough:
Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

First rise:
Let the dough rise for 1 hour, covered, until doubled in size.

Shape and rest:
Shape into a loaf or rolls and let rest for 30 minutes.

Bake:
Bake at 390°F (200°C) for 25–30 minutes, until golden brown.

Cool:
Cool before slicing.
Variations
- Add 3 tbsp sugar + 1 tsp vanilla for sweet bread.
- Replace half the flour with whole wheat for healthier bread.
- Mix in seeds or herbs for extra flavor.
